Remarks to the files:
There are three identical
PostScript-files with the file extensions "A.TXT",
"A.PS", "P.PS" and a Portable Document
file "P.PDF".
The file with the extention "A.TXT" is used to show directly the PostScript-program code in the browser window.
The file with the extention "A.PS" is used for download to the local drive and is used for output on a PostScript printer or a Display PostScript System.
With PS-files one can reach the best reproduction in colour and resolution. One can use by the operating system Windows "copy" and by the operating system Macintosh "download" to print the PS file by a PostScript printer. The PS file can be viewed directly on a colour monitor by a Display Postscript system (e. g. Nextstep, Openstep on Windows, Yap on Macintosh OS X server).
The file with the extention "P.PS" may be downloaded
to the local drive and transfered to a "P.PDF" file
by the local software Adobe Acrobat Distiller or equivalent.
The file with the extention "P.PDF" is viewed in the browser window if AdobePDFviewer is installed as browser plugIn. This "P.PDF" file may be downloaded to the local drive and viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
If the PDF-file (extention ...P.PDF) is used, then the local P.PS file must be transfered to a P.PDF file by the local computer operating system with the same version of Adobe Acrobat Distiller or an equivalent software.
Remark: The transformation from a P.PS file to a P.PDF file may
depend on the distiller version or the version of the equivalent
sofrtware. Therefore the "P.PDF" file from the internet
should not be used for the test.
The test result is independend of the Distiller version or the version of the equivalent software.
One can use the "P.PDF" file to view the digital DIN-test charts on any monitor and to print on any colour or black and white printer (not only PS-printers) by Adobe Acrobat Reader (or Exchange) Version 2.1, 3.0 or 4.0.
Test Intention:
The 16step equidistant colour scales with equidistant CIELAB colour
differences should be produced on a colour printer.
The 16 colour diffferences (first output: series "00") are not equidistant. The 16 colour diffferences (series "10") should be equidistant. There is a method by colour measurement to reach this intention by a high degree.
2. Output linearization of 16step colour series for CIELAB colour measurement by single pages

3. Test of 16step colour series output with different file formats BMP, GIF, HTM_GIF, HTM_JPE, JPE, TIF
There are 4 colour series, e. g. White Cyanblue (wc) of the first output (c*10) and the second linearized output (c*11).
The following array data in the PS file (near line 350) are the original data /tzaccmyw0 (equally spaced) and the calculated data /tzaccmyw1 to get the relative equidistant output spacing in CIELAB space (using the PS file) for a special printer.

The first line includes the c*
data for the colour series cyanbluewhite. The m*, y*
and n* data can be included in the next lines.
If the second PS array (/tzaccmyw1)
includes only data in one line then
we have a one dimenional (1D) correction. There may be a 3D (cmy*)
or 4D (cmyn*) correction to linearize the output more
acurate. The calculation of the array data for the 3D and 4D linearization
is under development.
One method for a 1D correction is described by

Remark 1: The different file formats
are computed here by the software Adobe Acrobat Illustrator
8.0 on Macintoshusing the original (hand coded) PostScript
(PS) file format.
Remark 2: It is asumed that e. g. the public domain software GoScript
and other software will give equivalent transformations of the
file format PostScript (PS). There is a wish to get the
different file formats also by hand coding in the different formats
(like the original eps- or PS-program code). This has not been
realized yet and is not important if the following remark is confirmed.
Remark 3: The linearized colour output (equal relative spacing in CIELAB) is independent of the file format (PS, PDF, BMP, GIF, HTM_GIF89, HTM_JPE, JPE, TIF) and the application software (Adobe Acrobat Illustrator , GoScript ) used. This statement must be confirmed for every file format and application software by colour measurement.
Remark 4: There is the user requirement to linearize the colour output only for a limited amount of file formats and application programs for his computer environement. Different file formats and application programs may give the same fist and second output. It is important to realize that the linearization is possible (on the second output) for every combination of file format and application program.
